This is not a request to live off-campus. However, you must submit this form to acknowledge your agreement of these responsibilities for living off-campus.
If your request to live off-campus is approved by the Housing Office, we encourage you to be an active member of the Westmont community. We hope you will take advantage of the extra-curricular opportunities offered by Westmont: symposiums, faculty office hours, musical reviews, theatrical performances, athletic events, intramurals, and the variety of clubs and organizations. Most likely there is much about Westmont you have yet to experience.
Also, as a member of the Westmont community, you are expected to model the lifestyle and follow the expectations which are articulated in our Community Life Statement. Be sure to get a copy of the current student handbook from the Student Life Office or Housing Office to be aware of any new campus policies.
When you are living off-campus, there are many opportunities and responsibilities as a neighbor. We continue to hear wonderful stories of students who have demonstrated genuine interest and care for their neighbors. We have also heard of some students who have drawn negative attention from neighbors by hosting events or parties which are noisier than what is acceptable within the neighborhood. Remember that the State of California and Westmont holds the hosts responsible for any negative consequences. You must insure that no one under 21 years of age consumes alcohol at your residence. Disciplinary action for such violations includes the full range of sanctions, including expulsion.
Sophomores who choose to live off-campus do so with the understanding that transportation will be very difficult. The only permits generally available to sophomores are Weekend/Evening permits. Due to this transportation difficulty, the college discourages sophomores from living off-campus.
When you live off-campus, you must provide us with your local phone and address.* This information is necessary in order to contact you in case of an emergency or for any official college communication. If you currently do not know what your local phone and address will be, submit this form again as soon as you know this information.
We hope your experience living off-campus will be positive. We continue to see you as a valued member of our Westmont community. Please know that the Student Life Office welcomes your suggestions regarding ways the college could better meet the needs of commuter students.
I have read and agree to uphold the OFF-Campus Living Agreement.
