Syllabus Submittal Instructions

You must have Microsoft Word to read the Archived Class Syllabi.

Westmont is dedicated to "on-line" syllabus submittal, syllabus storage, and syllabus retrieval. Note that Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) course syllabi are stored within the Social Science division. Following are instructions for submitting syllabi:

Submitting:

Summary:

Create your syllabus as you would normally, save it with any name you would like. Next, use an internet browser to send/upload that document to the Web Server. You will be storing the syllabi on the Westmont World Wide Web server. Because your syllabus will be opened in various word processors and on various platforms, please use "good" word processing practices. This means, rarely use the default tab stops, never hit the tab key twice, use standard fonts, and always use remaining line indent marker for hanging indents. Alternatively you may save your syllabus as a PDF document.

Here are the details, step-by-step:

1. When you are done writing your syllabus, save it with any name you like, but in a place you can easily find it. The syllabus must be saved in either Microsoft Word format or as a PDF document.

2. Open your internet browser. Go to one of these pages:

Syllabi - Fall 2005 and after
Syllabi - before Fall 2005

Enter your username and password (the same user name and password that you use for your email). Select the year, semester, and the division for the syllabus you want to put on the Web Archive. Click the "Browse..." or "Choose File" button to find the syllabus on your hard drive. Next enter the course name for the syllabus you are uploading. This name must match with the names posted in the class schedule from the registrars office. Finally, click the "Send This Syllabus" button. You may then either submit more syllabi to the same place or choose another place to submit a syllabus.

course name examples: (make sure to include the section if appropriate)

Fall 2005 and after: PSY-101-1    PHY-102-2    MA-192L-1
before Fall 2005: psy101    phy102b    ma192L

3. Repeat for each class section. This may mean you are placing the same syllbus in the archive more than once.

Management and Reporting:

You are able to check which syllabi have been uploaded, and which syllabi need to uploaded.
